With their upcoming PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita releases of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sui set for release in Japan on March 12th, Kaga Create have shared another two of the several opening sequences available with the game. These two, available to view above and below, have been sourced from Alchemist’s Nintendo DS collection of Higurashi games.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sui will be an enhanced PlayStation 3 port of Alchemist’s PlayStation 2 release, which in itself was an enhanced port of 07th Expansion’s original sound novel Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. This edition features not only the arcs that were incorporated into Studio Deen’s anime adaptations, but a number of other arcs that were either sound novel exclusive or first introduced in the PlayStation 2 / Nintendo DS release.
Although there are no announced plans to adapt this edition into English, international publisher MangaGamer are in the middle of doing their own enhanced port of the original chapters – with new character portraits and enhanced English dialogue. With PlayStation 3 ports of all eight Umineko chapters currently unavailable in the English-speaking market and all but the first anime season of Higurashi unlocalized everywhere but Australia, I am not liking the chances with this edition.
