Eden* and Eden* Plus Mosaic Now Available for Purchase From MangaGamer 1

International VN publisher MangaGamer have announced that an English localized version of Minori’s visual novel eden* is now available for purchase/download. This title can be acquired as one of two different versions – the all-ages ‘eden*’ and the 18+ “eroge” edition ‘eden* PLUS MOSAIC’, which come at a price of $19.95 and $24.95 respectively. More information on what differentiates both editions can be found in my previous post: “MANGAGAMER HIGHLIGHT VERSION DIFFERENCES BETWEEN EDEN* AND EDEN* PLUS MOSAIC”.

During the launch window for both of these editions, you will be able to nab a fairly significant deal. At this point in time, the PLUS MOSAIC edition is available at $14.97 (40% off) while the all-ages edition will only set you back $9.97 (50% off). Purchasing through the MangaGamer online store will also nab you a complementary Steam key once it is available through the service.

Do note that as the title suggests, eden* PLUS MOSAIC will feature censorship of all “naughty bits” as you would tend to find in visual novels published within Japan. While mosaics are unusual in western visual novel releases, this was made at the request of Minori, with MangaGamer respecting their wishes. While there may be a reduced mosaics edition/patch in the future (Similar to ef), there are no plans to ever do a release without mosaics.

Eden* and Eden* Plus Mosaic Now Available for Purchase From MangaGamer 2

MangaGamer’s decision to localize and publish Eden* is not just about delivering international visual novel fans with another title to read through and enjoy. Its secondary purpose is to jump-start development and localization of Minori’s most recent title: Supipara (すぴぱら). A goal of $100,000 is needed to make this happen, with purchases of eden* contributing to this total.

Some people who have been following Minori might recall that Supipara was a grand project for the studio which sought to extend it over several chapters. Unfortunately it failed in the Japanese market and was discontinued. Claiming that this is a time for Western Visual Novel fans to “prove to Japan that there is a strong market for Visual Novels here in the West” and have a “chance to revolutionize the industry”, MangaGamer have said that if Eden* and Supipara: Chapter 1 are successful, it will help fuel further development of Supipara. Strong sales will allow additional chapters to be developed, which will be published first in western markets (More information can be found HERE).

Synopsis

–The final love story on Earth.

In the distant future, a gigantic energy mass called the “star of destruction” suddenly appears near Mars. Its effects rain down onto the world causing abnormal weather and changes in the Earth’s tectonic plates. Conflicts break out all around the world as resources become scarce and populations have nowhere to go.

But this is only an omen of things to come.

100 years remain.

Mankind plans to evacuate the planet in order to evade its destruction. Two projects are drafted to meet that end.

First is the establishment of Earth’s Unified Government to implement the project itself. Evacuating Earth becomes a top priority and a policy of sacrificing the few to save the many is put into place. Authoritarian rule controls the masses. Nations and organizations which obstruct the establishment are oppressed through military force. Every possible point of division, race, religion, food, and energy is pacified through the iron fist of the military.

Second is the “Felix Project” which will serve as the foundation for the evacuation of Earth.

Though only a scant 100 years remains, mankind will perish if it is unable to create the massive colony ships necessary to leave the planet and survive in the vacuum of space. They settle on producing superhumans capable of making the seemingly impossible project a reality–genetically altered beings designed to possess high intelligence, and perpetual youth and longevity: “Felixes.”

99 years pass…

A lone female felix served as the central figure in the Earth Evacuation Project. She devoted her life to research for all of mankind. With her job now completed, she wishes to spend her remaining time quietly on Earth, now devoid of all humanity. A young man from the unified military is deployed to her side, his job is to protect her and to make sure she never gets away.

Their meeting sets the story in motion.

This is a tiny tale of a girl and a dying planet.

Characters

[tabs style=”nav-tabs”]
[tab title=”Sion”]20140822150030A felix known to everyone as the girl who saved mankind. Sion is approximately 100 years old, but outwardly looks like a short young lady. She possesses the highest intelligence of all felixes and is the central figure in the Earth Evacuation Project. Her specialty is mechanical engineering, but is also in charge of the development of the colony ships themselves. In the present day, she continues to monitor the construction of the fleet and serves in political negotiations now that the project has reached its final stages. She has become a tool of government propaganda and has earned many enemies as a consequence of her prominence. In public, she maintains the dignified demeanor of a noble princess, but since she has never once stepped outside of her research facility, she is more like that of a caged bird who yearns for the outside world.[/tab]
[tab title=”Elica”]20140822150037A felix born from the same genetic donor as Sion, She is like Sion’s older sister in many ways. Elica has a gentle and carefree personality, but possesses a lot of inner fortitude. She has always been beside Sion, and once even performed research along side her. Nowadays she has resigned from such endeavors and takes care of her little sister while dressed as a maid. All her playfulness is to calm her sister who does nothing but work every single day. She is a skilled physician and serves as Sion’s primary care giver. Although her abilities are inferior to her sister’s, whom is a genius even among felixes, she still wins in cup size, a point she secretly takes pride in. For some reason, she has prior knowledge of Ryou Haruna.[/tab]
[tab title=”Lavinia F. Asai”]20140822150045A girl roughly Ryou’s age who serves as Sion and Elica’s guard. Like Ryou Haruna, she is a warrant officer in the Unified Government military and young for her rank. Lavie’s personality is cheerful and refreshing, leading her to force a friendship with the normally quiet Ryou. She practically worships Sion and Elica for their efforts in saving humanity, but maintains her distance much like a servant serving her masters. She’s typically a very sociable individual, but underneath the cheerful exterior hides the face of a vicious close quarters combat expert proficient in the use of knives. Protecting the felixes is paramount to her as she undertakes the dirtiest of jobs, swearing absolute obedience to the military.[/tab]
[tab title=”Ryou Haruna”]20140822150052A warrant officer in the Unified Government military and the protagonist. As a child, Ryou was abandoned by his parents amidst the chaos of global affairs and lived in a house deep in the mountains. Due to his shattered upbringing, he left to enlist in the unified army at a young age. Proving to be an extraordinary soldier, he quickly rose in rank to his current position before the flames of war finally died down. Now that a relative peace has been established, he is summoned by his old commander and ends up getting transferred to a remote island research facility to serve as a guard to Sion.[/tab]
[tab title=”Naoto Inaba”]20140822150101The commanding officer of the unit garrisoned at the research facility where Sion lives. Though he is a capable solider, Inaba has little interest in getting promoted. He is the sort of man that doesn’t say how he really feels and plays dumb just to get around obstacle. He does as the government and military wishes, but in reality, is sympathetic with Sion and Elica’s circumstances. While notably younger than Sion and Elica in age, he regularly behaves as their guardian. During an assignment earlier in his career, he once met Ryou Haruna when he was still a child and encouraged him to enlist in the military. He is something like a big brother to Ryou, although the two don’t really get along. Fundamentally, Inaba is a good person.[/tab]
