Jagex has partnered with developer Games by Malcs to publish Melvor Idle 2: A RuneScape Adventure, the sequel to the idle game. It launches in Early Access on PC via Steam on 17 November 2026.
Melvor Idle 2 is a single-player adventure that mixes incremental idle gameplay with RPG systems inspired by RuneScape. Players travel through the world of Melvor, levelling up a range of interconnected skills including woodcutting, smithing, cooking, farming, combat and magic, and can max them out at their own pace. Building up ranged, melee and magic skills prepares players to take on dungeons, monsters and bosses. Progress continues offline, so planning ahead pays off even when players are away from the game.
The sequel adds five new skills, bringing the total to 29, along with new synergies between them and a completely reworked Mastery system. A new Quest system tests players’ combat skills, which have been updated with new mechanics, and reveals more of Melvor’s history. For the first time in the series, Melvor Idle 2 also includes different game modes to suit players of all skill levels. The game also has a fresh look, with updated graphics, audio and animations, and a higher level cap.
Brendan Malcom, Founder of Games by Malcs, said the partnership with Jagex has allowed the team to expand the game further than before.
“Melvor Idle started as a small passion project inspired by RuneScape, so partnering with Jagex to make Melvor Idle 2 a true ‘RuneScape Adventure’ is a dream come true. With Jagex’s support, we can go even further: five new skills, a reimagined Mastery system, a brand-new Quest system and a whole new look. I can’t wait for players to dive in when we launch in Early Access on 17 November.”
Anna Mostyn-Williams, Senior Director of Business Development & Partnerships at Jagex, said the publisher wanted to build on the first game’s success and bring it closer to RuneScape.
“Games By Malcs has built a passionate community by capturing what makes RuneScape’s skilling so satisfying, and Brendan has done that brilliantly. After Melvor Idle’s incredible success, we’re thrilled to build on it and publish Melvor Idle 2: A RuneScape Adventure, bringing the game closer than ever to the RuneScape universe. We think both longtime Melvor fans and RuneScape players will love what’s coming.”
