Yomawari Horror Titles Set For PlayStation 5 Release In November

Nippon Ichi Software America has confirmed that two entries in its survival horror series will arrive on PlayStation 5 later this year. While you may expect a pre-Halloween or on-Halloween release, both Yomawari: The Long Night Collection and Yomawari: Lost in the Dark are scheduled for release on 5 November 2026.

The Long Night Collection bundles two previously released titles, Yomawari: Night Alone and Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, into a single package. The former follows a young girl searching for her missing sister, while the latter shifts focus to schoolgirls Yui and Haru. Both are set in a rural Japanese town, where players uncover local mysteries while trying to avoid whatever moves through the streets after dark.

Gameplay across the collection centres on searching for hidden items, which players can add to a collection and use to interact with spirits or trigger new story events. Each chapter introduces spiritual creatures drawn from Japanese urban legends, and the game leaves their intentions deliberately ambiguous, with some being hostile and others potentially misunderstood. Encounters are handled through stealth rather than combat, with players able to tiptoe, sprint, hide in bushes or use items as a distraction. Some spirits move quickly enough to catch out players who rely on running alone.

Yomawari: Lost in the Dark is a standalone entry with its own story. It follows a young girl who has been cursed and must search her town’s haunted streets at night to recover her lost memories. Survival depends on avoiding malevolent ghosts by running, hiding and closing her eyes.

The game is positioned as an entry point for both new and returning players, using a setting the publisher describes as familiar to existing fans. It features sound design and shadowy environments intended to support a roster of ghosts not previously seen in the series. It also marks the first time the series has offered character customisation, letting players change the protagonist’s hairstyle, hair colour, clothing, and accessories.
