At PAX West 2026, Nippon Ichi Software America announced Astonishia Story, which is an updated version of the Korean role-playing game. It will release on the Nintendo Switch 2, the Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 5, and PC on February 11, 2027. The edition coming to modern platforms includes enhanced visuals and more refined mechanics than the original release.
Players assume the role of Lloyd von Reuental as he sets off to recover a stolen relic and restore his honour. The narrative examines prejudice, manipulation, and duty, with the Elven Queen at the heart of the conflict as she tries to obtain the powers of an ancient god. The player must stop her; saving the world is a result of Lloyd fulfilling his duty, not the goal itself.
The game now has a new presentation, with improved graphics displayed at higher resolutions than in earlier versions. Combat takes place on a grid, with players moving their units around the battlefield, using abilities, and arranging their positions to win encounters. The party can be composed in a flexible way, since a variety of optional mercenaries can be recruited. To find them, players must talk to characters in the game, and each recruit brings a different set of skills, letting players tailor their party to the situation.
