While it may come as a little bit of a disappointment for those who, like myself, have been awaiting Jackbox Games to dedicate the time, resources, and Cookie Masterson towards a new instalment to the You Don’t Know Jack franchise – the last few being instalments of the collections – the developer has confirmed the five games that will be available as part of The Jackbox Party Pack 12 later this year.
The five games included in this year’s pack are:
- We Forgot a Card (Design, Joke-Writing): Players design greeting cards for unusual occasions, with the option to buy printed versions in real life. The premise casts you as someone running late to an event who ducks into a shop with a limited selection.
- MegaPals (Speed, Guessing): A guessing game about how well players know each other, built around quick word associations and matching answers between players.
- Debate and Switch (Presentation, Head-to-Head): A debate game in which players argue light-hearted topics and try to win the rest of the group over to their side, set in a town hall format.
- Idol Factions (Teamwork, Trivia): A team trivia game in which two teams race to sort a steady stream of answers into the correct categories.
- Hyperface (Head-to-Head, Photoediting): Players take selfies or use stock photos and distort them to respond to prompts such as “your face when you’ve just seen a bear,” using tools to smudge, yank, squash, and draw on the images before sharing them.
The Jackbox Party Pack 12 will launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Apple TV, iPad, and the Mac App Store. Of course, while you can play these on PC or console, they are also streamable – with multiple players able to participate using their own individual mobile devices.
