InZOI Version 0.8.0 Update Introduces Unreal Engine 5.6 And Expanded Career Systems

More than a year after first entering early access with promise but a long way to go, the inZOI development team at KRAFTON have continued pushing out updates to their life simulation game, in addition to actively consulting with the community. The latest major patch has just been released, bringing the game to version 0.8.0. This update marks a significant technical milestone by transitioning the project to Unreal Engine 5.6 – and with it hopefully some performance boosts for those with less powerful PCs. Alongside this engine upgrade, the patch introduces a variety of new career paths, freelance opportunities, and expanded simulation mechanics across all available cities.

The career system has undergone a substantial overhaul, introducing roles such as Architect, IT Developer, Journalist, and Music Producer to the cities of Dowon and Bliss Bay, while Cahaya receives a new Travel Agent profession. To secure these positions, characters must now undergo an interview process. Additionally, the game now treats school, careers, and businesses as independent categories. This change allows a single character to participate in all three simultaneously, provided their schedules do not overlap. The daily life of a working character now includes daily salary payments, the ability to request sick or paid leave via a computer, and the risk of being fired for poor performance or frequent tardiness.

For those preferring a non-traditional path, a new freelance system allows characters to take on delivery, creative, and publishing tasks. These roles require a license obtained through a computer, with the quality and compensation of available tasks scaling based on a character’s reputation. Players can also venture into the private sector by opening hair salons, a new business type that allows for the modification of other characters’ appearances.

Family and life simulation mechanics have also been deepened. Pregnant characters are now able to visit the hospital for ultrasounds to monitor the health and gender of their baby, and players can host gender reveal parties as a new social event. Management of babies has also become a little more interactive, with parents and babysitters now able to comfort infants who fall while attempting to stand, as well as cleaning up after they urinate.

The update introduces several quality-of-life improvements to build mode and character customisation. A new multi-select tool enables the simultaneous movement or deletion of multiple items, while new residential presets inspired by the European countryside have been added to various properties. For character appearances, the “situational looks” feature allows players to pre-set up to five different outfits, hairstyles, and makeup configurations for specific scenarios.

On the technical front, the v0.8.0 patch includes new optimization settings such as simulation presets and a performance safeguard that automatically adjusts graphics when system overload is detected. A new in-game reporting tool has been implemented to allow players to flag and suggest corrections for any translation errors they encounter during gameplay.

You can read the full patch-notes on the official inZOI website, and can check out my original base early access review HERE for an in-depth look at what the game originally was.
