HoYoverse has confirmed that the next major update for its urban fantasy action-RPG, Zenless Zone Zero, is scheduled for release on 24 March 2026. Titled “Champions Never Fall to the Past”, Version 2.7 introduces a large-scale tournament narrative alongside new playable characters and combat challenges.
The update focuses on the Hollow Champion competition, a high-stakes event hosted by TOPS that has drawn interest from various factions across New Eridu, including the Public Security’s Metropolitan Order Division and the Outer Ring’s Sons of Calydon.
Participants are vying for the Porcelloy W-Engine and the title of champion. Among the obstacles in this tournament is the Black Wolf Romeul, a formidable opponent who utilizes a Corruptive Barrier. This barrier grants him increased resistance to critical damage and interruptions while draining the health of his opponents. Players will need to utilize sustained Anomaly damage to break through his defenses effectively.
Two new S-Rank agents will join the roster in this version. The first is Cissia, an Electric Attack agent representing the Metropolitan Order Division. Her kit revolves around a mechanic called Venom, which she gains upon entering combat. These stacks increase her critical hit rate and deal additional Electric damage, though they deplete over time. Players can replenish these stacks using her EX Special Attack and consume them for high-damage bursts through her Serpent’s Kiss basic attack.
Joining her is Nangong Yu, the captain of the Angels of Delusion, and the final member of the trio to join as a playable character. As an S-Rank Ether Stun agent, she specializes in increasing the team’s Anomaly Buildup Rate against stunned targets. Her primary mechanic involves regenerating Downbeat over time or when teammates trigger Anomalies. Once charged, she can perform attacks that extend the duration of an enemy’s stun. Her Ultimate, Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise, provides an attack boost to the entire squad. HoYoverse also noted that a new outfit for Nangong Yu will be available, and players who collect the full Angels of Delusion faction will unlock a unique wallpaper.
For those looking to bolster their existing teams, the update sees the return of S-Rank Ice Rupture agent Yidhari and Electric Attack agent Seed.
Outside of the main tournament, players can visit Lumina Square to participate in a themed event at the Simmer Hotpot Restaurant. This involves assisting a character named Blaze with various tasks. Combat-focused players can take on a new mission from HSOS 6, which requires managing three separate two-member squads in a relay format. Additionally, the Simulated Battle Trial is being updated with fresh enemy configurations and a leaderboard system. Participation in these activities offers rewards such as Polychromes, exclusive titles, and namecards.
