Pangea Game Studios, in partnership with the publishing platform indie.io, has launched a demo for its upcoming sandbox title, Cozy Builder. Released during the House & Home Fest on Steam, this playable preview offers the first public hands-on experience with the game’s building and restoration mechanics.
The game is set in a quiet vineyard valley that has been damaged by a recent earthquake. Players assume the role of a specialized builder tasked with repairing the local architecture and returning the region to its former state. While the title shares some similarities with other creative sandbox games, it distinguishes itself through a modular puzzle-building system. This mechanic requires players to piece together specific elements such as gabled roofs, arches, and dormers to solve 3D architectural challenges.
The current demo functions as a vertical slice of the full experience, providing a guided tutorial and a series of construction objectives. Despite having structured goals, the demo aims to remain open-ended, allowing players to continue refining their designs and experimenting with the building tools after the initial objectives have been met.
In addition to the core construction loop, players are able to enter and inhabit the homes they create. The game features various decoration options for both interiors and exteriors, including handcrafted furniture and diverse greenery. Players can design a range of structures, from simple cottages to detailed greenhouses used for housing rare plants.
The vineyard setting also introduces elements of resource gathering and crafting. To further connect with the environment, players can forage for ingredients or harvest grapes to create artisanal products like wine and preserves. Consistent with the cozy genre, the experience contains no combat, time limits, or fail states, focusing instead on a stress-free creative process.
The Cozy Builder demo is available now for download on Steam.
