The first Minecraft LIVE event of 2026 has concluded with several major announcements regarding the future of the franchise across both gaming and live events.

A primary highlight of the broadcast was the reveal of Minecraft Dungeons II, an action RPG sequel scheduled for release later this year. The title will introduce players to new environments and enemies within the Minecraft universe and will support cooperative play for up to four people. This new entry is slated to arrive on not only the Xbox Series X|S and PC, but also the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch 2. It is also set to be available via the Xbox Game Pass from launch.

In addition to the sequel, Mojang Studios detailed two upcoming drops designed to alter the standard gameplay experience. The first of these, titled Tiny Takeover, is available starting 24 March 2026 and focuses on the visual overhaul of baby mobs to give them distinct appearances. New items such as the Golden Dandelion and craftable nametags accompany this update.

The second update, Chaos Cubed, is expected to launch later in 2026 and will introduce a new biome known as sulfur caves. These caves feature noxious pools that can cause a dizzying effect on players, alongside new cinnabar and sulfur block sets. This update also debuts the sulfur cube, a unique mob capable of absorbing blocks to change its physical attributes. Depending on what it consumes, the cube can behave like a bouncing ball when eating wood or slide like a hockey puck after consuming ice, providing new mechanics for creative builds and mini-games.

The franchise is also expanding its presence in the physical world through a partnership between Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments to create Minecraft World. This dedicated theme park land is set to open at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London in 2027. Plans for the area include the first Minecraft branded rollercoaster, a large scale retail outlet, and themed dining options. The project is being developed in collaboration with various creators to translate the blocky aesthetic into a real world environment.
Global interactive tours are also continuing to grow with the introduction of Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail. This outdoor nighttime adventure is scheduled to debut in Buenos Aires, Argentina, allowing participants to explore biomes and mine resources in a forest setting. This joins the existing Villager Rescue experience, which is confirmed to be visiting Singapore, Mexico City, Chicago, and Herning in the near future.
