Independent developer Petoons Studio has announced that the launch of its 3D platformer Dracamar has been delayed for PC and consoles. The game, which draws inspiration from classic platformers of the late 90s and early 2000s, was originally expected to debut sooner but has been pushed back due to unforeseen technical complications. The development team has indicated that the title is still on track to arrive in the coming weeks – with more information to come as the final hurdles are resolved.
Set within an archipelago inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, Dracamar follows the journey of three playable characters: Caliu, Foc, and Espurna. The narrative tasks players with confronting an antagonist named King Crad, an evil dragon attempting to conquer the world, while rescuing magical creatures known as Okis. The game world aims to promote themes of friendship, generosity, and environmental harmony, with environments ranging from coastal shores to the Pyrenees Mountains.
The title includes 15 primary levels alongside five bonus stages that feature various puzzles, traps, and enemies. Throughout the adventure, players must defeat seven unique bosses and can discover hidden medals and other collectibles. A central mechanic involves the collection of Moki-balls, which provide the energy necessary to rebuild bridges and restore connections between the different islands. Players are also assisted by a special companion named Iko, who uses magical powers to help overcome obstacles and enemies.
Sergio García, the CEO and co-founder of Petoons Studio, issued a statement regarding the decision to move the release date:
We want to apologize to the community for this delay, and want to confirm our compromise with delivering the best product possible to players. The whole team is working really hard so all audiences can enjoy Dracamar as soon as possible
