Mado Monogatari: Fia And The Wondrous Academy Arrives On Steam This March

-

Idea Factory International has confirmed that the dungeon-crawling RPG Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy will be released on PC via Steam on 25 March 2026. The Steam version will include language support for English, Japanese, French, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The title is currently available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch – and you can read my review of the game HERE.

Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy follows a young girl named Fia, who travels from her hometown to enroll in the Ancient Magic Academy. The institution is known for its long history and for being the graduation site of The Great Mage. Players will guide Fia as she navigates schoolwork, interacts with her peers, and faces strict professors, all while investigating mysterious events and uncovering the legends of the academy.

Core gameplay involves navigating randomly generated dungeons and engaging in real-time, turn-based battles. Players must manage Fia’s inventory and stats as they encounter various magical monsters, including familiar creatures like Puyo and Skeleton T. During combat, Fia can utilise Magic Artes and collect Elemental Orbs to fill a gauge, which then allows her to cast more powerful Great Magic Artes. Character progression is tied to the Grimoire system. By completing Assignments and Help Quests, players earn Learning Points that can be spent to unlock nodes within the Grimoire, granting Fia new abilities.

Outside of dungeon exploration, the academy grounds serve as a hub area. Here, players can access mini-games via the Bulletin Board, interact with classmates, and grow ingredients to cook stat-boosting curries. A Storage Room is also available, where materials gathered during dungeon runs can be synthesized into new equipment, with higher-tier synthesis options unlocking as players progress through the Grimoire.
