After multiple ports of the likes of Tales of Graces f, Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially released their first-ever port of formerly PlayStation 3 exclusive Tales of Xillia. Titled Tales of Xillia Remastered, the game is now available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The update revisits the 2011 action RPG with remastered visuals, quality of life changes, and a collection of DLC packs from the original game.
Set in Rieze Maxia where humans and spirits coexist, players can experience the story from two perspectives. Choose Milla Maxwell, accompanied by four spirits, or Jude Mathis, an aspiring medical student. Their narratives converge as they uncover the kingdom of Rashugal’s mana draining weapon and set out to destroy it to restore balance.
The remaster introduces several quality of life improvements, including auto save, destination icons for smoother navigation, and early access to the Grade Shop. Players can also disable general enemy encounters at any time if they want to focus on story progression. The package also includes DLC content from the original release, such as character costumes, bonus items, and other extras. In this writers opinion, most of the DLC is unnecessary, with exception of the costumes and accessories which are worth checking out for variety (and a few new battle themes as well).
