After announcing the game for a western release earlier in the year, EXNOA and Tookyo Games have confirmed the official release of SHUTEN ORDER, a multi-genre adventure now available digitally on Nintendo Switch and Steam in North America and Europe via Spike Chunsoft.
On Steam, a limited-time launch bonus is available. Customers who purchase SHUTEN ORDER, SHUTEN ORDER Digital Deluxe Edition, or SHUTEN ORDER Steam Ministry Edition during the launch campaign period will receive an original digital novel supervised by Kodaka titled “Before the Murders – case: Manji Fushicho” a prequel to the main game. The campaign runs from launch to 19 September 2025.
The bonus novel is set five years before the game and follows Manji Fushicho prior to her role as Minister of Security. Captured by heretics and forced through an “awakening test,” she makes a choice that shapes the figure later feared as the Queen of Heretic Hunting.
Creator Kazutaka Kodaka positions the project as a multi-part adventure built around a cult and a central murder, and stresses that its twists come from the setting rather than shock value alone.
This ambitious project about a religious cult and the shocking murder of its leader is packed with five adventure games. Thanks to DMM GAMES, we were able to bring such an edgy and daring game to console players. It’s not shock value for its own sake. The surprising twists are just, and could only exist because of its peculiar setting. I think it’s been a while since we’ve managed to pull off a trick that’s unique to games, so I hope players will experience that sense of surprise for themselves. Happy New End… Have a good end.
Co-creator Takumi Nakazawa highlights the team’s effort and urges early play to avoid spoilers and encourage discussion once the story wraps.
SHUTEN ORDER is finally released. Our entire team poured their hearts and souls into creating this incredibly fun game. Play it as soon as possible before story spoilers start to spread. Once you reach the end, please share your thoughts with others. You’ll definitely want to talk to someone about it, and I’m sure other players will be eager to hear about the path you took to complete the game as well.
