Devolver Digital has released Baby Steps on PC and PlayStation 5, a physics based walking adventure from developers Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch and Bennett Foddy. The game follows Nate, a self described underachiever who discovers his sole talent is putting one foot in front of the other, and asks players to navigate a serene but demanding mountainscape one deliberate step at a time.
Built around fully simulated movement, Baby Steps emphasises careful foot placement, gentle momentum and frequent stumbles as part of its learning curve. The world sets out to layer a dynamic soundtrack that evolves as you hike, while lighthearted touches such as non collectible hats and a tongue in cheek onesie soilage system lean into the comedy. Exploration is open ended, with a long ascent designed to be tackled at your own pace as Nate meets odd locals and tries to find meaning in his unexpected journey.
As this is Digital Devolver we are talking about, they have complemented this release with a very ‘Devolver’ styled trailer, which is a blast to watch.
Baby Steps is available now on PC and PlayStation 5 for $29.99 AUD or local equivalent.
