Yogscast Games together with developer Slug Glove Studios has unveiled Rhell: Warped Worlds & Troubled Times, a semi-open world puzzle adventure that blends exploration, creativity, and experimentation. Players take on the role of Rhell, a fiery young mage who uses combinations of runes, referred to as keywords, to craft spells and solve environmental puzzles. With one to five keywords, each spell produces unique effects, encouraging players to experiment and find their own solutions to challenges spread across 14 main areas.
The story follows Rhell as she investigates the mysterious disappearance of people across her world, accompanied by Beesle, a beetle companion who offers helpful hints. Her journey blends personal growth with discovery, as encounters with different characters influence her development and can lead to multiple possible story outcomes. Exploration rewards players with clues that reveal the truth behind the unfolding events.
The game’s open-world structure allows freedom of movement, with progress gated only by the player’s available spell combinations. Challenges such as blocked paths, environmental hazards, and movable objects can be tackled using newly unlocked spells. With 40 runes to discover, players can craft unique magic in over 102 million possible combinations, ensuring a vast range of creative solutions to the game’s open-ended puzzles.
Commenting on the announcement, Simon Byron, Managing Director at Yogscast Games, shared:
We’re excited to introduce Rhell, a fun puzzle adventure that encourages players to experiment, inspires creativity, and offers a fresh take on the puzzle genre. Alongside the depth of storytelling and puzzle-solving, players will feel drawn to Rhell’s emotional development as she goes in search of answers and restores normality to the toon-like world.
Rhell: Warped Worlds & Troubled Times is planned to release on the PC and both current and last generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles in Early 2026.
