Alawar has announced that Karate Survivor, its martial arts–themed survivor-roguelite, will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on 28 August 2025 – following the game’s PC release last year. The game invites players to take on endless waves of enemies using not just their hands and feet, but anything they can grab; from grocery store fish to plastic flamingos.
The streets and rooftops of Karate Survivor hope to offer players a world filled with opportunities for improvised combat. Players can hurl dumpsters, swing baseball bats, knock down scaffolding, or even slam foes with a microwave door. As in true roguelite fashion, power-up cards collected during a run enhance attacks, unlock new moves, and help create a personal fighting style.
Karate Survivor offers a wide range of features designed to keep each run fresh and engaging. Players can turn everyday items into deadly weapons, from mop handles to toy hammers, and use their surroundings to their advantage by pushing, toppling, or slamming objects into enemies. Combat also seeks to be highly customisable, with the ability to create unique six-move attack chains from hundreds of techniques.
Between runs, players can unlock permanent skills and techniques, ensuring steady progression and mastery over time. The game’s varied locations each present distinct items and challenging bosses, while its quick, intense runs, reminiscent of the high-energy spectacle of ’80s action films, keep the action fast and adrenaline-fuelled.
