Grasshopper Manufacture has announced Romeo is a Dead Man, a new action game set to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 5 in 2026. The announcement was made during the latest State of Play presentation.
Romeo is a Dead Man centres around the titular character, Romeo Stargazer, a man caught between life and death after a time paradox saves him in his final moments. The paradox – triggered by a reckless scientist – fractures the space-time continuum, transforming Romeo into “Dead Man,” a special agent of the FBI’s Space-Time Division. Wearing a mask known as Dead Gear, he is tasked with tracking down fugitives across multiple universes.
The game promises heavy, blood-soaked combat, with Romeo using both guns and swords to eliminate enemies and manipulate their abilities against them. A key feature of the gameplay is the Bloody Summer mechanic, an instant-kill special attack powered by the blood of defeated foes. According to the announcement, players can expect fast-paced action set across distorted realities, including transitions between subspace and physical environments.
Romeo’s mission becomes further complicated by the sudden disappearance of his girlfriend, Juliet, whose connection to the overarching narrative remains shrouded in mystery. Grasshopper Manufacture teases an adventure that intertwines personal loss with high-stakes multiversal conflict, leaving players to uncover whether Romeo can find her – and himself – amid the chaos.
