During the Xbox Games Showcase this morning – Activision, Treyarch and Raven Software unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the next instalment in the long-running first-person shooter series. For the first time, the Black Ops sub-series is receiving a consecutive instalment, directly continuing its storyline and taking players into a new conflict set in the year 2035.
Set over four decades after the events of Black Ops 6, the new title returns players to a world teetering on the edge of chaos. In this future shaped by global conflict and psychological warfare, David Mason and his team must confront an elusive enemy who uses fear as their greatest weapon.
Treyarch and Raven Software are once again at the helm, aiming to deliver what they describe as the most psychologically intense Black Ops narrative to date. Players will be able to engage in a co-operative campaign—either solo or with friends—alongside an expanded multiplayer experience featuring near-future weaponry and new maps. The title will also reintroduce round-based Zombies gameplay, continuing the Dark Aether storyline.
Accompanying the announcement was the release of an official teaser cinematic (above), giving players a first glimpse into the tone and style of Black Ops 7.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release later in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Xbox PC.
