A new term is about to begin at the Ancient Magic Academy, as Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy is officially set to launch both digitally and physically in North America and Europe on 29 July 2025. Available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, this dungeon-crawling RPG invites players into a spellbinding school adventure filled with magic, mystery, and plenty of monsters.
In Fia and the Wondrous Academy, players follow Fia, a determined young mage-in-training who secures her place at the prestigious Ancient Magic Academy through sheer determination—and a dash of luck. From gruelling coursework and quirky classmates to strange happenings within the school halls, Fia’s journey to becoming a Great Mage is anything but ordinary. As she digs into the academy’s secrets and legends, Fia will face unpredictable dungeons, magical creatures (yes, even the iconic Puyo), and the occasional curry break.
The game combines randomly generated dungeons with a blend of real-time and turn-based combat, where players can unleash powerful Magic Artes using a resource called Elemental Orbs. Outside of combat, Fia can explore the school grounds, check the Bulletin Board for mini-games and quests, grow ingredients, and prepare meals that provide in-dungeon buffs. With a grimoire system to track and unlock new abilities, and synthesis mechanics to create better equipment, there’s plenty to master as you help Fia reach magical greatness.
