Spike Chunsoft, Inc. has revealed new information about the gameplay systems in its upcoming detective adventure and puzzle title No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files. The game is scheduled for release in North America and Europe on 25 July 2025 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
The title expands upon the formula established in the AI: The Somnium Files series, introducing a new gameplay component called the “Escape” section, alongside returning “Investigation” and “Somnium” segments. Each gameplay section features a different playable character, with players switching between them as the narrative unfolds.

In the Investigation section, players control series protagonist Kaname Date as he follows leads surrounding the disappearance of Iris. Set in real-world locations, this segment focuses on crime scene analysis and witness interviews. Players will also utilise Date’s AI-equipped prosthetic eye, “AI-Ball”, to reveal hidden evidence and piece together crucial details.
The Somnium section sees the return of the series’ signature dream investigation mechanic. Players take control of Aiba in her humanoid form to explore the subconscious of key witnesses through a device known as the “Psync” machine. Within these dream worlds, reality bends to the subject’s personality, and players must solve puzzles and overcome “mental locks” within a six-minute time limit to uncover deeper truths. Each action consumes time, requiring players to plan their moves carefully based on the unique rules of each dream.
The newly introduced Escape section features Iris as the playable character, who finds herself confined within a locked room. Players must examine the environment, solve puzzles, and interact with objects to uncover the means of escape. Assistance is available through conversations with Date and Aiba, and players may need to combine collected items to unlock new paths forward.
