Shiny Shoe and Devolver Digital publishing label Big Fan have confirmed that Monster Train 2, the follow-up to their acclaimed deckbuilding roguelike, will arrive on 21 May 2025. The sequel will launch simultaneously on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
This next chapter sees players caught in the crossfire of a new celestial threat—the Titans—an overwhelming force bent on extinguishing both Heaven and Hell. To stand a chance, players must unite eternal rivals and reclaim the divine throne from these near-unstoppable invaders.
Building on the original’s multi-level battlefield and fast-paced card-based strategy, Monster Train 2 introduces a trainload of new features. These include fresh playable factions, new card types, and train customisation elements that grant tactical advantages. Players can also dive into an Endless Mode, take on Daily and Dimensional challenges, experiment with run mutators, and compete on global leaderboards.
While the core of the game remains rooted in smart deckbuilding and strategic positioning across three vertical combat lanes, the sequel looks to broaden its appeal with deeper mechanics and more opportunities for synergy.
