Independent creative studio The Planar Danse has launched its latest title, The Fool’s Apprentice, a magical school management simulation game now available on Windows PC via Steam.
In The Fool’s Apprentice, players take on the role of a master arcanist responsible for shaping a growing academy of arcane sciences. Players will guide apprentices through their magical education, managing their abilities and overseeing their progress to unlock new branches of arcane science. Alongside instructional duties, players can also customise the appearance of their academy, using both decorative and practical upgrades to tailor the school to their preferences. These decisions, as well as narrative events encountered throughout the game, will respond directly to player choices and shape the broader direction of the storyline.
As the institution’s prestige rises, so too do the political and social responsibilities of its leader. Players will need to navigate the demands of Golyron’s various social classes, including responding to requests from noble families, managing alliances with competing guilds, and even choosing whether to manufacture magical weapons in times of war. The distribution of magical knowledge itself also becomes a critical issue—players may decide to bring the arcane sciences to the people or withhold them entirely, though the latter may provoke unrest among the population.
The Fool’s Apprentice is now available on Steam for $16.99 USD / £13.99 GBP / €15.99, with a 10% launch discount offered for one week post-launch.
