Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced Tamagotchi Plaza, a new video game reviving the 1990s virtual pet franchise, which will launch for the Nintendo Switch on 27 June 2025.
Marking a return to the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop series, Tamagotchi Plaza will feature a variety of interactive stores in a colourful city setting. Players will help Prince Tamahiko transform Tamahiko Town into a vibrant location ready to host the Tamagotchi Fest, an event declared by the Great Gotchi King.
The game includes 12 different shops in the town plaza. Returning venues like the Dentist will appear alongside new ones such as the Afternoon Tea Shop, Eyewear Shop, and Galette Shop. Each location will offer a unique mini-game experience. Performing well in these activities will improve each shop’s reputation and draw in over 100 Tamagotchi characters to interact with.
Offline cooperative play will also be supported for selected mini-games, allowing two players to share a single controller. Additionally, Tamagotchi Plaza will offer a connectivity feature with the Tamagotchi Uni toy, which is available separately in selected regions. Linking the toy and the game will unlock exclusive in-game items.
