The 6th Pégases Ceremony took place last week at La Cigale, bringing together French gaming professionals and enthusiasts to celebrate the achievements of the country’s video game industry. Hosted by Salomé Lagresle, the event awarded 18 Pégases to studios and individuals who contributed to the industry’s growth in 2024.
The Pégases Ceremony, organised by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Jeu Vidéo and co-produced by SNJV and Webedia, once again highlighted the innovation and creativity of the French gaming industry. Supported by Unreal Engine, Neuflize OBC, KPMG Avocats, and Playruo, with backing from the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée, the event aims to reinforce the industry’s continued impact on the global gaming landscape.
Ubisoft Montpellier’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown emerged as the standout winner of the night, securing four awards: Best Sound Universe, Best Game Design, Best Accessibility, and Best Video Game. The 2.5D action-adventure game, released in January 2024, has been praised for its fast-paced combat and time-bending mechanics, following protagonist Sargon on his quest to save Prince Ghassan.
This year’s ceremony also highlighted the diversity of French game development, with over 30 studios from across the country represented. Among the notable titles were Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (Don’t Nod, Paris), Dark Hours (Piece of Cake Studio, Paris), Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (Asobo Studio, Bordeaux), Les Fourmis (Tower Five, La Rochelle), Ravenswatch (Passtech Games, Lyon), and Dofus (Ankama, Roubaix).
Additionally, leading video game schools such as E-Artsup, Isart Digital, and Rubika were recognised, with students competing for the Best Student Game award, underscoring the role of education in fostering future industry talent.
