Today marked the release of the Honor of Kings-themed episode of Secret Level, the animated anthology revolving around various video games available on Prime Video. Titled “The Way Of All Things” and written by JT Petty, the episode is based on a short story by S.L. Huang. It introduces Yi Xing, an all-new character to the Honor of Kings universe. The story follows Yi Xing’s journey, from learning the strategic game of Weiqi (known internationally as Go) as a child, to mastering it and using his skills to win a pivotal match to save the city of Chang’an.
Alongside the episode, Yi Xing debuts as the latest playable Hero in Honor of Kings. A Mage specialising in mid-lane play, Yi Xing excels in crowd control and burst damage, aiming to make him a strong choice for team fights. His synergy with Lu Bu further amplifies his effectiveness in battle, delivering high-impact attacks on enemies.
Yi Xing’s abilities are heavily inspired by the strategic elements of Weiqi, providing a unique gameplay experience:
- Kiai: Grants periodic immunity to lethal damage. Skills apply an “Anti-Qi” mark to enemy heroes, enhancing Yi Xing’s abilities.
- Joseki: Places a Weiqi counter at a designated spot, granting vision and dealing magic damage.
- Atari: Inflicts magic damage in a targeted area, forming a Weiqi formation that pulls enemies toward the center for additional damage.
- Capture: Traps enemy heroes on a created Weiqi board, limiting their mobility.
