Rebellion has confirmed that its upcoming game, Atomfall, will release on 27 March 2025. The survival-action title will be available for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, seeking to offer a blend of science fiction, folk horror and Cold War influences to a relatively broad audience.
The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer, featuring an original folk song that aims to underscore the game’s eerie atmosphere. The trailer introduces Atomfall’s Casterfell Woods location, depicting unsettling scenes such as a burning pyre, a wicker man, fallen bodies, and a mysterious ringing telephone box.
Set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, Atomfall challenges players to unravel the mystery behind the Windscale nuclear power station incident. Players will explore military encampments, abandoned bunkers, and pagan ruins while navigating the quarantine zone—a region populated by eccentric and sometimes hostile characters cut off from the outside world for years.
The game aims to blend investigation, exploration, conversation, and combat, drawing inspiration from classic British science fiction like The Day of the Triffids, early Doctor Who, and The Quatermass Experiment. Players must use an array of ranged and melee weapons to survive, while crafting items and scavenging for supplies. Light RPG elements and skill trees allow players to shape their character through interactions with NPCs.
Promoted features of Atomfall include:
- A single player survival-action game, drawing from science fiction, folk horror, and Cold War influences to create a world that is eerily familiar yet completely alien
- Explore a dark and foreboding world with varying environments and locations

- Craft items and weapons that may save your life, ransack ruined houses for supplies, and even unearth hidden treasures using your trusty metal detector
