In attendance at the MIX Fall Showcase, indie developer Ground Game Atelier unveiled the third gameplay trailer for their upcoming adventure RPG, The Time I Have Left. Alongside the new trailer, the team announced the launch of a demo on Steam and a Kickstarter campaign to secure additional funding for the game’s completion.
With regard to the Kickstarter campaign, despite claiming to have received a strong reception from audiences, they are seeking crowdfunding to finalise their debut title. The Kickstarter campaign offers rewards for backers, including digital content, exclusive merchandise, and opportunities to contribute to in-game design. Stretch goals include additional content, such as new enemy types, expanded areas, and console ports.
A two-hour demo titled “Near-Death Experience” is now available on Steam, allowing players to experience the first chapter of the game. In the demo, players control Aline as she escapes Colony 7, encountering enemies, challenging a boss, and exploring the game’s combat and skill systems.
Juan Estévez (Yite), creative lead at Ground Game Atelier, shared his thoughts on the challenges of independent game development and the importance of community support:
Set in the underground city of Colony 7, The Time I Have Left follows Aline, a character marked for death by a phenomenon known as “The Miasma”. The game blends a time-driven escape narrative with exploration, puzzle-solving, and reactive turn-based combat.
Promoted features of the game include:
- Reactive Turn-Based Combat: Evade directional attacks and master enemy patterns during tense encounters.
- Modernised JRPG Elements: Explore, solve puzzles, and discover hidden areas in a visually distinctive style.
- Time-Driven Gameplay: A dynamic timer impacts each level, encouraging players to strategise and make every second count.
- Exploration and Discovery: Unlock new abilities, uncover shortcuts, and piece together secrets in an interconnected world.
