Joining the many other live service “deduction” games on the market is Bandai Namco Entertainment with a new video game entry in an iconic anime and manga franchise – DEATH NOTE: Killer Within. This social deduction game is set to launch digitally on 5 November 2024 and will be available for PC via Steam and for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game can be purchased separately or accessed for free by PlayStation Plus members.
DEATH NOTE Killer Within brings players into a high-stakes, multiplayer setting where 10 participants engage in a game of strategy, secrecy, and survival. With cross-play support, players are divided into two teams — one led by the mysterious vigilante Kira and the other by the detective L. Each player is assigned one of four roles: Kira, Kira Follower, L, or Investigator. These roles come with unique gameplay mechanics, aiming to allow for varied strategies and unexpected twists as players try to either eliminate L or retrieve the Death Note from Kira.
The game’s customization options include personalized nameplates, avatar accessories, and visual effects for key gameplay moments. For those buying the game and wanting something a little bit extra, DEATH NOTE Killer Within will be available in both Standard and Special Editions. The Special Edition includes the base game, a Premium Customization Track Vol. 1, and an Accessory Pack.
If you are curious about what the gameplay entails before purchase, Bandai Namco Entertainment are set to soon stream a ‘How to Play’ trailer on the day of launch, with the stream accessible below:
