Still remaining a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, Square Enix has released their 16th numbered entry in their iconic RPG franchise, Final Fantasy XVI, on PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store. The release comes in two flavours, a base game release, and the Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition, which bundles the base game with the newly released DLC chapters, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. These DLC chapters can also be purchased individually or as part of the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass across all platforms.
Set in the realm of Valisthea, Final Fantasy XVI introduces players to a dark fantasy world where peace is threatened by the spreading Blight. The story follows Clive Rosfield, a warrior who swears revenge after a great tragedy. Alongside powerful summoned creatures known as Eikons, Clive must navigate a dangerous path to uncover the truth behind the Dark Eikon, Ifrit.
Players who purchase the game by 8:00am (PDT) on 17 October 2024 will receive special (but minor) in-game items as an early purchase bonus, including:
- Brave Blade Weapon
- Cait Sith Charm (Gil Boost Accessory)
- “Sixteen Bells” Orchestrion Roll
Additionally, a free demo of Final Fantasy XVI is available for download on the PC, allowing players to experience the opening prologue during Clive Rosfield’s adolescence. Save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game upon purchase, and the demo includes a special “Eikonic Challenge” mode that showcases more Eikonic abilities in combat.
