Visit the Nation of Natlan in Genshin Impact Version 5.0 from 28 August

After a year exploring the hydro-aligned nation of Fontaine in Genshin Impact, the Traveler, Paimon, their allies and in turn – the player themselves – will soon be casting their gaze to the pyro-nation of Natlan. HoYoverse has officially announced that Genshin Impact Version 5.0: Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn is set to go live on all servers starting 28 August 2024. In addition to the brand new nation to explore and the start of the next chapter of the Archon questline, this update also offers many quality of life updates, three new playable characters and more.

The journey to Natlan will be accessible via an unlocked Teleport Waypoint for players who have completed the Prologue of the Archon Quest in Mondstadt. To begin Natlan’s Archon Quest however, players must reach Adventure Rank 28 and have completed Liyue’s Archon Quests.

Natlan, known as the Nation of Pyro and the “Nation of War”, is located west of the Sumeru Desert and features six main tribes. In Version 5.0, players will be able to explore three of these tribes and encounter various Saurians, creatures essential to navigating Natlan’s unique landscapes.

Each Saurian species offers different abilities, aiding players in their exploration. For instance, the Tepetlisaurus excels at tunneling and climbing, making it ideal for traversing canyons, while the Yumkasaurus allows for swift vertical movement, and the Koholasaurus enables rapid travel on water and liquid Phlogiston. Like Fontaine’s approach to underwater swimming without needing to worry about drowning from stamina loss, I would expect this to be limited to Natlan.

The new version introduces three notable warriors from Natlan:

  • Kachina: A four-star Geo polearm wielder from the Children of Echoes, Kachina can summon Turbo Twirly to aid in exploration and combat. She can be recruited for free by completing Act I of Natlan’s Archon Quest.
  • Kinich: A five-star Dendro warrior from the Scions of the Canopy, Kinich uses a claymore and grappling hook for combat and traversal. His companion, Ajaw, adds additional firepower in battles.
  • Mualani: A five-star Hydro catalyst wielder from the People of the Springs, Mualani rides her Sharky Surfboard across various surfaces and inflicts damage with Sharky’s Bite.

These characters also possess unique abilities to assist with exploration, such as restoring Stamina, accumulating Phlogiston, and increasing movement speed. Players will need to manage Phlogiston wisely to fully utilize the powers of Natlan’s warriors and Saurians. Version 5.0’s Event Wishes will feature the debuts of Mualani and Kachina in the first phase, alongside a rerun of Kaedehara Kazuha, followed by Kinich and Raiden Shogun in the second half. Additionally, players can access Tribal Chronicles, offering a new three-act quest for each tribe to provide deeper insight into Natlan’s culture and traditions.

In celebration of the game’s fourth anniversary, players will receive various rewards, including up to 10 Intertwined Fates, 1,600 Primogems, and two exclusive gadgets. Furthermore, players can invite a 5-star character from the Standard Wish lineup to their team for free.
