Survival Horror Game, Edge of Sanity, to Launch Mid-September

Daedalic Entertainment and developer Vixa Games have announced that their survival horror game, Edge of Sanity, will be released on 13 September 2024 across all supported platforms, including the PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.com), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch

Coinciding with this announcement comes a range of goodies – including a new release date trailer (below) and a demo on Steam which features full voice acting. The demo provides players with access to the game’s first act, with the option to transfer their progress to the full game upon purchase.

Set in the harsh wilderness of Alaska, Edge of Sanity is a 2D survival horror game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The story centres on Carter, an ordinary worker struggling to maintain his sanity while leading a group of survivors against unimaginable horrors. Players must explore remote Alaskan areas, gather supplies, and ensure the survival of their group, all while dealing with the increasing risk of disease and the strain of growing numbers. Throughout the game, Carter’s mental state deteriorates, with each traumatic event leaving a lasting impact. This accumulated madness can result in new traumas that affect gameplay, offering new dialogue options and even allowing for the crafting of unique items.

To survive encounters with various monstrous creatures, players will need to exploit enemy weaknesses, manage resources effectively, and make strategic use of crafting and the environment. In some situations, combat may be unavoidable, requiring players to resort to using an axe, although this comes with the risk of fatal outcomes.
