After being rather surprising announcement during a PlayStation State of Play livestream earlier in the year, a new trailer for Infinity Nikki was showcased during the recent Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event. Developed by Infold Games, the cozy open-world RPG is built using Unreal Engine 5. The official launch is planned for PlayStation 5, PC, Android, and iOS, with Closed Beta Test applications now open.
Infinity Nikki invites players to explore the vibrant and expansive nations of Miraland alongside the stylist protagonist Nikki and her feline companion Momo. The game sets out to offer players a blend of open-world exploration, platforming, puzzle-solving, and a variety of outfit customisation options. Former The Legend of Zelda director Kentaro Tominaga has contributed to bringing this immersive world to life.
Players can expect to engage with memorable characters, solve engaging platforming challenges, and create outfits which provide unique abilities to further explore the world. For instance, the Floating Outfit allows Nikki to navigate vine-covered ruins, the Gliding Outfit facilitates soaring over enchanted forests, and the Shrinking Outfit provides access to tiny, crystal-filled caverns.
The gameplay also includes puzzle-solving elements and interaction with various creatures. Nikki can craft specific outfits to fish in rivers, catch bugs in fields, and travel between different lands. Players are encouraged to explore all the magical secrets that Miraland has to offer, with the opportunity to document their journey using Momo’s in-game camera. However even with the trailers released, we have yet to see much in-game footage of what players can expect from the final release – so time will tell if the claims live up to the hype.
The official launch of Infinity Nikki will support text in multiple languages, including English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, German, French, Thai, Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, and Indonesian. Audio support will be available in English, Chinese (Simplified), and Japanese.
