Life By You’s Early Access Delayed Again to Dates Unknown

Announced last year with an initial early access release date set for the same year, Paradox Tectonic’s life simulation game, Life By You, has had a transparent development process through nearly weekly posts on their YouTube channel. However, they have also missed their planned early access release deadlines – first planned for 12 September 2023, then 5 March 2024, then 4 June 2024 – which was reaffirmed as late as early last month.

Unfortunately as per the below statement by Mattias Lilja, Deputy CEO of Paradox Interactive, that release date has also been pushed back to an unconfirmed date.

Hello everyone,

After much consideration, we regret to announce that we have decided to retract Life by You’s Early Access release date, previously set for June 4th. This was not an easy decision, especially since we understand the anticipation and excitement that many players have for the game. However, we believe that additional development time is needed.

While we would have preferred to commit to a new release window, we believe it is more prudent to hold off while we plan ahead, rather than committing to a new date that we cannot be certain to meet.

We will provide more information as soon as possible, until then we want to sincerely thank you for your continued support and patience.

Mattias Lilja, Deputy CEO of Paradox Interactive

With the need for a fresh take on, and movement in the life simulation genre of video gaming which is heavily dominated by The Sims 4 at this time, it is disappointing to see yet another delay. However, it is refreshing to see that they are not committing to a specific date immediately, and are hopefully reviewing resources and development processes to come up with a logical Early Access release date so disappointment doesn’t strike again.

With a few other life simulation games lining up to enter the market over the coming years (Eg. Paralives and whatever is next for The Sims with Project Rene), and given that first impressions do matter, is this delay due to needing more time to develop the key systems, or wanting to make the game a bit more polished upon unleashing it into the wild.

Watch this space.
