When Paradox Tectonic unveiled their life simulation game earlier in the year, they proposed they would be offering an Early Access build of the game to everyone who had pre-purchased the game on 12 September 2023 – with incremental updates leading to its final release. Well, as it turns out, that date may have been a little bit too ambitious. Paradox Tectonic and their parent company Paradox Interactive has confirmed Life by You will now be entering early access starting 5 March 2024.
Frankly, this should come as no surprise, as while the game is looking very good in its many mini-preview videos, including a half-hour long preview by Rod Humble, there were clear aspects that needed improvement before it could be rolled out to the public. In turn, the given reason for this lengthy delay is:
The additional time gives the development studio, Paradox Tectonic, the ability to improve the game’s visuals and UI. These improvements will not only affect the overall look and feel of the game but will make it a more well-rounded experience for players. Paradox Tectonic will also be fine tuning mod tools that will be available for all players to explore and create.
It is justifiable, as while gameplay features are expected to be rejigged, added or removed during Early Access testing, core elements such as major UI changes or a complete overhaul to the game’s visual style can be much more jarring.
If you pre-ordered Life by You via the Epic Games Store, you should have or should soon be receiving a full refund credited to your payment method. You are then free to pre-order again (with an added pre-order bonus of the Nightclub Vibe pack), or wait to see how the game turns out.
