20 Minutes of ‘Lords of the Fallen’ Showcased During Extended Gameplay Presentation

HEXWORKS, a studio under the banner of CI Games, has recently shared an Extended Gameplay Presentation for their upcoming dark-fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. The game, slated for release on 13 October 2023, serves as a complete reboot for the franchise, and will be launched on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S simultaneously.

The newly released video offers a glimpse into the semi-open world of the game, highlighting some of the environments players will need to both traverse and survive in. Players can freely navigate through these locales in their quest to topple Adyr, the demon God. However, Lords of the Fallen introduces a dual-realm mechanic, necessitating survival not in one, but two distinct worlds.

Next to the living realm, Axiom, lies its undead equivalent, Umbral. Both realms possess their own exclusive pathways, adversaries, characters, and treasures. Players can transition between these realms using the Umbral Lamp, albeit at the cost of one of their two lives. Upon death in the living realm, players will respawn at the same location in the undead realm, granting them one last shot at survival.

The preview also seeks to shed light on the continuous co-op feature. Players can invite another to join their journey by visiting a rest point (vestige) within the game, where they can opt to team up with a friend or a randomly selected player. Furthermore, the game allows players to craft their own vestiges, a feature available only at select locations and requiring a rare resource.

Saul Gascon, the Head of Studio, conveyed the excitement of the team at Hexworks about the new gameplay presentation and the innovative dual-world mechanic:

The team at Hexworks is thrilled to finally share an extended gameplay presentation and reveal numerous new details of our dark fantasy action-RPG. We have passionately carved our own path in this increasingly popular genre, and we are particularly excited to see how players will approach the game’s unique dual-world mechanic when it releases this October.
