Ballad of Antara Announced for PS5, PC, Mobile: Free-to-Play Action-RPG Coming in 2025

During the recent PlayStation State of Play livestream, TipWorks Studio (who are a part of Infold Games who also just unveiled Infinity Nikki) unveiled their new action RPG titled Ballad of Antara. This is yet another free-to-play, presumably live service game which is going into an industry with a few hits and arguably many misses as of late.

The game features a dual-world concept, with a normal world inhabited by common folk and an alternate world called “Para,” where peculiar and fantastical events occur. The story begins as an ancient power invades and traps essential elements of the living world within Para.

Players will embark on an adventure through exotic landscapes, each location meticulously crafted with exploration-oriented level design. Each destination features its own unique Para, with distinct biomes, stories, heroes, and adversaries.

Ballad of Antara will offer multiple playable characters known as “Emissaries,” who can traverse between the normal world and Para. Each Emissary has a unique class, gameplay capabilities, and personal stories. Players will need to find and rally these Emissaries, strengthen their forces, and uncover the truth behind the land’s calamity. These characters all feed into the main narrative, revolving around a young girl who is key to undoing the devastation.

The game also includes multiplayer support for up to three players, allowing for cooperative exploration and combat. And following what has typically come from the live service model, the developers plan to release regular updates post-launch, introducing new Emissaries, zones, and story continuations.

Ballad of Antara has been in development for four years, and more information is soon to come around a PlayStation beta test, ahead of the game launching in 2025. The game will follow developers like HoYoverse with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, in making this game PlayStation exclusive, but will also be offering the game on PC and Mobile Platforms
