Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared the numbers, confirming that since TEKKEN 8 first launched a month ago on 26 January 2024, the game has sold 2 million units in the first month. This was supported by approximately 1 million units being sold worldwide on launch day.
According to the developer/publisher, the sales “greatly outpaces” TEKKEN 7, its predecessor, although still has a way to go until it reaches that game’s total worldwide sales of 11.8 million copies.
Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed they will continue to provide support for the game into the future, through various content updates, in addition to more promotional and community driven engagements such as eSports events and music/licensing agreements. The next step will be the TEKKEN WORLD TOUR 2024 starting in mid-April. Similar to events held for Tekken 7, events across the world will see players competing to earn points and progress through the rankings, with the ultimate goal of reaching the TEKKEN WORLD TOUR Finals and being deemed this year’s best TEKKEN player.
