Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Receives Extended Announcement Trailer

After last week announcing that the once Nintendo Switch exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V would be headed across to other platforms later in the year as an enhanced Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance edition, ATLUS West has shared this new ‘Extended’ trailer for the RPG.

This trailer comes as physical edition pre-orders open for the game on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Those who pre-order will receive two “Sacred Treasure” sets, in-game items designed to aid players during their journey through Da’at. This set includes the “Gleam Grenade” which inflicts a small amount of damage to foes and the “Haraedo Bead” which recovers the HP of all allies. “Consumables?” You may scoff. While neither sound major in the slightest, both can be used infinitely in battles.

When a grisly murder scene in modern-day Tokyo blocks the protagonist’s walk home, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious. He finds himself in a wasteland ravaged by apocalypse now called Da’at. Before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life, a saviour emerges, and they unite to become a mighty being, neither human nor demon: a Nahobino.

In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, players will be able to choose between two paths – the story told in Shin Megami Tensei V, the Canon of Creation, or the brand-new Canon of Vengeance. Those who choose the latter path will meet new characters, an enigmatic cohort of demons called the Qadištu, a new dungeon and map to explore and more. Regardless of what option you choose, the original Shin Megami Tensei V battle system, demon merging and field exploration have been evolved and expanded.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and is scheduled to release on 21 June 2024.
