During the recent The Crew Summer Showcase event, Ubisoft alongside their Ivory Tower studio shared new updates and developments for their competitive racing game franchise, The Crew. This included a look at what is up ahead for 2018’s The Crew 2 which is still actively being developed for, and the newly announced The Crew Motorfest, the third game in the series which is set to launch on last and current generation platforms (+ the PC) on 14 September 2023.
The Crew Motorfest was elaborated upon by an in-game character named Malu, who serves as the festival’s public relations manager. If you are getting Forza Horizons vibes from what is outlined, you would not be the only one. During the shared video, Malu discussed the multiplayer aspects of the game as well as post-launch plans for its first year of content. Confirmed features of The Crew Motorfest include a new Playlists system, an array of game modes, activities, and events geared towards automobile enthusiasts. Motorfest will host head-to-head showdowns every hour, which include the Grand Race, where up to 28 players can race on randomly generated tracks. Additionally, players can engage in Demolition Royale, where they have to form teams and participate in intense vehicular combat.
The Crew Motorfest endeavours to add new content throughout the year post-launch, including new Playlists, Summit Contests, guests, and celebrations. The Main Stage of the festival will serve as the hub for all activities, featuring themed events and challenges, with support from a curated selection of vehicles and celebrity guests including professional drivers, tuners, and content creators. The first guest announced is Hoonigan, who will be joining in the second season with special project vehicles. Each season, lasting four months apiece, will have a unique theme focused on car culture fantasy, and new Main Stage activities will be introduced every month.
A Closed Beta test will be running for The Crew Motorfest on consoles and PC for a three day period – starting 21 July 2023 and concluding 23 July 2023. Interested parties can register their interest HERE.
The Crew 2 also marked its 5th anniversary on the day of the showcase. The development team disclosed their plans for the Year 6 live content, which shall commence with Season 9 next Wednesday. One of the highly anticipated features is The Race Creator tool that will allow players to design and share custom races. Players will have the capability to set rules, categories, and modify various elements such as car models, traffic, weather, and time of day.
The first episode of Season 9 will introduce new American Legends stories and events, enabling players to embark on treasure hunt across the United States, while driving vehicles like the Bugatti Chiron Sport 300+ Divine Edition, the Ford Mustang Boss 429 Lime Edition, the Chevrolet Camaro RS Ghost Edition, and the Nissan GT-R Haru Edition. These quests will lead players to learn more about The Crew Motorfest.
