Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed that their latest instalment in the Tekken franchise, Tekken 8, will be available to select participants early as part of a series of two weekend closed network test taking place from mid/late July. The closed network test will be accessible on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms, and seeks to test network stability and provide players a taste of what to expect in the final release.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studio Inc., TEKKEN 8 promises to be the most visually stunning TEKKEN title yet, and comes along with major new changes to combat, with a new “aggressive” combat system that encourages an offense-first play style, rewarding players who stay on the attack while offering spectacular plays. With the upcoming CNT, players will have a chance to experience this new philosophy and play a part in helping influence key game mechanic and features coming to TEKKEN 8.

The Closed Network Test for TEKKEN 8 will encompass online one-on-one ranked matches, with cross-platform compatibility. During the test, participants will have the option to choose from 16 characters, encompassing favorites like Jin, Kazuya, Paul, Law, King, Lars, Jack 8, Xiaoyu, Nina, Leroy, Lili, Asuka, Hwoarang, and Bryan, along with the newly revealed Claudio. Additionally, the test will provide access to five stages, namely Urban Square, Yakushima, Rebel Hangar, Sanctum, and Arena.
The Closed Network Test is scheduled to take place across two distinct sessions:
- The first session will be exclusive to PlayStation 5, beginning on July 21st at 10:00 a.m. CEST and concluding on July 24th at 9:00 a.m. CEST. There will be a maintenance period on July 21st from 10:00 p.m. CEST to July 22nd 1:00 a.m. CEST.
- The second session will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, commencing on July 28th at 10:00 a.m. CEST and ending on July 31st at 9:00 a.m. CEST. During the second session, there will be a maintenance window on July 29th from 10:00 a.m. CEST to 1:00 p.m. CEST.
PlayStation 5 players who participate in the first session will also have access to the second session.
For those interested in participating in the Closed Network Test, registration is open and accessible on the designated registration website. Participants will be chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis. Importantly, Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscriptions are not required for involvement in the online testing.
