Shadows of Doubt, a sandbox detective simulation game from the teams at ColePowered Games (Developer) and Fireshine Games (Publisher) is now available via Steam Early Access from today.
In Shadows of Doubt, players take on the role of a private detective, tasked with solving a variety of cases, including murders, robberies, and acts of vandalism. The game sets out to offer a unique crime-solving experience, requiring players to utilize a range of gadgets and techniques to investigate cases.
The game is set in fully simulated cities, where players will interact with individual citizens, each with their own name, job, apartment, and daily routine. Players can choose their approach to each case, whether it be scanning fingerprints, checking call histories, reading private emails, bribing citizens, watching CCTV footage, picking locks, breaking down doors, or sabotaging security systems. Shadows of Doubt plans to offer multiple ways to solve each case.
The initial launch of Shadows of Doubt on Steam Early Access features a specially crafted case, “The Dead of Night,” as well as a Sandbox Mode with an endless number of cases to investigate and civilians to meet. Players will also have access to a variety of equipment and the chance to explore dense, procedurally-generated cities.
Developer ColePowered Games has also shared a roadmap outlining free content and features that will be added to Shadows of Doubt during its Early Access period – leading to a full 1.0 release later this year. The game’s first major update, set for Q2 2023, will introduce a new side job, a new building type, and additional NPC interactions. Further updates are planned for Q3 and Q4 2023.
Cole Jefferies, Founder and Director of ColePowered Games, expressed his excitement for the game’s launch and the positive early press reactions, while looking forward to the upcoming additional content.
I’m so excited to finally invite players into the world of Shadows of Doubt and delighted by the early press reaction to the game. Shadows of Doubt has been a dream of mine for a very long time, so to finally see the game in players’ hands is an incredible feeling. I hope players love the game’s immersive crime-solving experience, and look forward to the additional content coming as we work towards a full 1.0 release.
