On 29 August 2023, Nippon Ichi Software America are planning to publish Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. This is a collection of two musical RPG games developed by Nippon Ichi Software back in the day, and serve as sequels of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, most recently ported across to the Nintendo Switch as part of Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 3. Both games have never been released outside of Japan, making these brand new experiences for many.
NIS America has shared our first look at Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess, the first of the two games in this collection. This is a direct sequel to Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure following young Kururu, the daughter of Cornet, who sets out on a journey to find her own prince. This continues to be a musical RPG with new songs, a new turn-based battle system and more.
Both Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess and Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom will feature both English and Japanese voice acting. However, unlike Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, all songs will only feature Japanese voice acting. A shame… given the iconicness of songs involving mountain men and pirates who like to but lotion on their sunburns…
