Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless Added to NIS America’s 2023 Line-Up

Following the somewhat underwhelming offering provided by Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny back in 2021, Nippon Ichi Software have dived into the chance offer the seventh flagship chapter in their long-running tactical RPG franchise, titled Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless. During their recent 30th Anniversary celebration festivities, Nippon Ichi Software America, NIS’s western localisation/publishing division, has confirmed that work is underway in bringing Disgaea 7 to western markets in ‘Fall 2023’ for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is set to offer many series staples, along with a range of new features – including a Hell Mode, Item Reincarnation, and Jumbification – the latter of which lets your characters grow to supersized proportions and inflict “larger than life” damage. Furthermore, on top of a range of story-critical characters who will join your party, more than 40 character classes will be available, including for series-firsts: Maiko, Bandit, Zombie Maiden, and Big Eye.

Set in a new world inspired by feudal-era Japan, Disgaea 7 seeks to tell a tale of redemption which draws from both ancient and modern history. It follows the lazy warrior Fuji, who resides into the demonic realm of Hinomoto where the bushido code is out, and the Hinomoto Code of Destruction is in. Enter bushido fan-girl Pirilika, a naive and rich young lady who manages to convince Fuji to protect her as she pursues her ambitions. But there’s more to this contract formed between them than meets the eye, so be sure to check the fine print.

Expect to hear more about Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless in the coming months.
