Developed by Arc System Works and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment for the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch back in 2018, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a 2.5D fighting game featuring many characters from the hit Dragon Ball Z multimedia franchise. Despite its age, it seems like interest continues to be high enough to justify the companies greenlighting development of native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
Revealed during Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s Top 8 competition for the 2022 Evolution Championship Series (EVO), the new-gen editions are pitched as “[harnessing] the power of these platforms to deliver even more breathtaking visuals with incredible responsiveness to player inputs”. Furthermore, players on the next-gen and PC versions will experience “smoother online play” through the intergration of rollback netcode.
No release date for the PS5/XSX|S versions of Dragon Ball FighterZ or the update for rollback netcode on the PC have been provided.
