2D Firefighting Game Nuclear Blaze Heads to Consoles in Early 2023

Following on from the success of their 2018 roguelike game Dead Cells, creator Sébastien Bénard moved onto his next project – Nuclear Blaze – which has been available on PC since October 2021 to a ‘Very Positive‘ community reception. But what about plans to offer the game on other platforms? Red Art Games and Bénard’s one-man development studio Deepnight Games has confirmed that Nuclear Blaze will be released digitally and physically on home video consoles including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One early in 2023. No exact release date has been confirmed yet, but expect to hear more in the months leading to launch.

Nuclear Blaze is pitched as “a dynamic 2D Action game in which the player assumes the control of an experienced firefighter dropped in the middle of a massive fire. In addition to keeping the fire under control with his trusty hose, the hero must investigate the circumstances behind the catastrophe”.

Something unique to this game is that in addition to its main mode, Nuclear Blaze also includes a Kid Mode tailored towards younger gamers (aged 3 and up). This mode has its own specific – and easier – levels, an immortal hero, simplified controls (with auto-aim) and “tons of helicopters and trucks”. The opposite is also on offer, with the game’s ‘Hold My Beer’ mode which “adds hidden areas in all levels as well as new threats that require a more precise and tactical approach”.
