Following its PlayStation, Xbox and PC releases back in 2020, Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer Aquria have committed to a Nintendo Switch release of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, although have not confirmed a release date as of writing.
Following an alternate timeline to that of Reki Kawahara’s original light novel and the subsequent anime adaptation, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris tells an alternate story of the original Alicization arc before diving into a video game exclusive arc.
Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris finds Kirito in a mysterious but familiar virtual world, “Underworld,” where advanced A.I.s could be mistaken for humans. As players take control of Kirito, he will be joined by not only characters from the arc such as Eugeo and Alice – but returning characters from earlier arcs.
The question is… with Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris facing poor performance issues initially on other consoles, will it fare better on the less powerful Nintendo Switch hardware?
