Dragon Quest Treasures Announced for Nintendo Switch

Not a numbered instalment in the franchise but a brand new spin-off series, Square Enix has confirmed Dragon Quest Treasures for the Nintendo Switch, with plans to launch it on 9 December 2022. Tied in with the most recent mainline title, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, fans can take a look into the childhood escapades of siblings Erik and Mia.

Players will take control of the trio as they explore what is pitched as “a treasure hunter’s paradise where boundless adventure awaits”. Loot can be hidden in the most fiendishly inaccessible locations, so players must recruit a variety of well-meaning monsters and make use of their unique treasure-hunting abilities.

These creatures will help players to race over open fields, scale cliffs with a single bound, and glide over gaping chasms. They will even provide assistance in battles against rival treasure hunters! Collecting treasure will increase the player’s vault value, allowing them to expand their home base and build up their brigade of friendly monsters.

Expect to hear more about Dragon Quest Treasures in the lead-up to its years-end launch. For a look at the game, check out the announcement trailer (above) and preview screenshots (below).
