Following the spin-off series’ original run on home video consoles, Dragon Quest Builders has found new life on iOS and Android devices, with release of the game on the iOS App Store and Android App store in recent days.
Inspired by the block-building world-crafting mechanics of Minecraft, combined with the many elements of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest RPG series – Dragon Quest Builders will see players use their creativity to gather materials and craft unique items to rebuild the ruined realm of Alefgard. A sanbox gaming experience, the game boasts “endless building possibilities”, supported by “an intuitive control system that will have players building the towers and castles of their own to protect the world from the treacherous Dragonlord, an iconic DRAGON QUEST monster”.
Compared to the original console release, the iOS and Android version is launching with new downloadable content, including a Boss Monster Model Set, Astronomy Set, a Pixel Ring, and a Magic Carpet, that can be used in “Terra Incognita” (Free Build Mode). This additional content purportedly expands the possibilities of DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS by unlocking new ways players can customize and travel within the mode where they can freely build and play. The DLC in “Terra Incognita” brings about new gameplay opportunities with special block sets, equipment, and more, and is available for purchase in the in-game storefront.
A breakdown of the DLC includes:
Boss Monster Model Set – Players can unpack several giant posable monster figures that can be added to their worlds.
Astronomy Set – Players can light up the night sky with 10 stars and planets to bring the beauty of the galaxy to their backyard.
Pixel Ring – More than just a pretty accessory, players can wear a Pixel Ring that grants higher number of “pixels” when defeating an enemy in “Terra Incognita”, which players can then use to create special items on the “Dragon Quest Game Pak” workstation.
Magic Carpet – Builders can use a magic carpet as they observe, build, and explore their structures from the sky, as well as listen to special music as they travel.

DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS mobile players can also use a feature called “Building Card” to easily show off their structures to other players in “Terra Incognita”. Players can scan other players’ buildings to have them show up on their island by using the Summoning Stone.
