Square Enix Share New Details on Babylon’s Fall – Combat Trailer, NieR Automata Collaboration and More

Coinciding with their release of the PlayStation-exclusive demo, Square Enix and developer PlatinumGames shared information on their upcoming RPG-shooter, Babylon’s Fall. This content included the release of a new combat trailer (available below), details on the game’s first in-game season and a collaboration with NieR: Automata – a game that PlatinumGames also developed in collaboration with Square Enix.

The trailer is titled Combat 101, and serves as an introduction to the core gameplay mechanics players will use in-game. Players will be able to wield weapons in both hands while utilising the power of their Gideon Coffin to equip two additional spectral weapons. On the battlefield with four weapons, they hope that their combat system will provide “countless ways to customize the combat experience and unleash devastating combinations against the enemies of the Ziggurat”.

Babylon’s Fall will, like an increasing number of games in its genre nowadays, make use of in-game seasons to roll of new content to players. Season 1 – titled “The Eternal Ziggurat” has been confirmed to run from the PlayStation Beta Commencement through to 31 May 2022. It offers new game modes, a new faction, new weapon type, new story content, new bosses, armour, quests and more. Of course, it can’t really be new if the game is launching alongside this content, but I digress. The Premium Battle Pass will be free for all players during Season 1.

This is a limited time only event however, and won’t be around forever.

About Babylon’s Fall

In BABYLON’S FALL players become a group of warriors known as the sentinels, bonded with special equipment called Gideon Coffins, and throw themselves into an odyssey to overcome the titanic Tower of Babylon, within which sleeps a great legacy.

In addition to weapons wielded in both hands, characters can use the power of their Gideon Coffin to equip two more, allowing for combinations of up to four weapons at once. The capabilities of different equipment will also bring endless variation to the strategy that can be employed. The game’s visuals are achieved using a newly developed “brushwork style” to create a unique fantasy setting with a medieval oil painting aesthetic.

Babylon’s Fall will be available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC (via Steam) starting 3 March 2022.
